牛津大学 University of Oxford终身教授
Barbara导师现任牛津大学工程科学学院终身教授、牛津大学可持续金属结构研究小组负责人;在获得帝国理工大学、悉尼大学工程科学博士学位之后,Barbara教授曾任比利时最高学府鲁汶大学建筑金属结构研究小组负责人,在那里她对研究工程材料的金属结构行为进行了深入研究。 Professor Barbara is currently a tenured Professor in the School of Engineering Sciences, University of Oxford, and Head of the Sustainable Metal Structures Research Group at Oxford. After receiving her PhD in Engineering science from Imperial College London and the University of Sydney, Barbara was the head of the Research Group of Building Metal Structures at the University of Leuven in Belgium, where she conducted depth research on the metal structures behavior of engineering materials.

Her team focuses on the study of the combination of ultra-high strength steel, stainless steel and aluminum building materials. Used for bridge, radioactive waste treatment facilities and sewage treatment plant structure, advanced analysis and building structure calculation analysis.

建筑是空间的艺术,不仅提供给人类居住环境,好的建筑更是一道靓丽的人文景观。随着时代的发展和科技的进步,土木工程相关的材料、技术以及理论都在不断完善和更新,土木工程结构设计、工程新材料的研究、开发和应用成为了世界各国的关注焦点。自20世纪60年代以来,新型城镇化提上各国发展日程,意味着人类的住房必须要更新形式,从传统建筑转向绿色建筑,融入节约、智能、绿色、低碳等生态文明的新理念。

本课程将探讨和分析建筑力学原理和绿色建筑、以及环保建筑材料——从建筑力学原理和结构入手,带领学生探究常用的工程材料,金属,混凝土和钢筋混凝土以及它们对生态环境的影响、详细分析桥梁结构、载荷与极限。本课程的亮点在案例分析,学生将走近被称为世界建筑经典“海峡奇迹”的金门大桥,深入分析设计原理和工程材料,揭示结构是如何建立和绘制桥梁的规模,讨论材料选择对建筑及环境的影响。学生将在项目结束时,提交项目研究报告,进行成果展示。

This course will explore the principles of building mechanics and the concept of environmentally-friendly construction. We will lead students to explore commonly used engineering materials, such as metal, concrete and reinforced concrete, and their ecological impact, followed by a detailed analysis of bridge structure, load and limit. The highlight of this course is the case study, where students will take a closer look at the Golden Gate Bridge, known as one of the world's architectural classics, delve into the design principles and engineering materials, reveal how structures are built and drawn to the scale of the bridge, and discuss the impact of material selection on architecture and the environment. At the end of this project, students will submit a project research report and display their results. Suggested Future Research Fields:Burg Burj Khalifa or Empire State building? Why is the golden gate bridge so iconic? Can metals always be recycled? How can buildings be more sustainable? Can we build windmills using 3D printing?
